A voice agent platform is more than TTS

Production agents need speech recognition, turn-taking, interruption handling, an LLM or reasoning layer, tool calls, channels such as phone or web, workflows, monitoring, and guardrails. A provider can have excellent TTS and still leave you assembling most of the system yourself.

ElevenLabs Agents

ElevenLabs currently positions ElevenAgents as a platform for voice, chat, and email interactions in 70+ languages, with deployment across phone, web, and app contexts. Its documented capabilities include workflows, testing, analytics, guardrails, knowledge, and tool integrations in addition to the underlying speech stack.

Cartesia Line

Cartesia’s pricing page includes voice-agent slots, concurrent calls, per-minute call duration, and telephony pricing. It is worth comparing for teams that want a developer-centric speech provider with an agent layer and explicit concurrency economics.

OpenAI Realtime

OpenAI’s realtime audio models provide a strong foundation for voice applications with integrated reasoning and tool use. Teams choosing this route may still need to assemble telephony, application workflow, observability, and other production layers around the model depending on the architecture.

How to shortlist

For a fast managed deployment, start with a platform that includes orchestration and monitoring. For a deeply custom product, compare component APIs and keep ownership of the orchestration layer. In both cases, test task completion, latency, interruption handling, safety behavior, and cost under real call conditions.
